    This series got dismissed as a silly tween girl fad and it’s frustrating but I feel like it’s so perfectly ironic. I read the first book at 11, younger than Prim and Rue and admittedly excited by violence and romance and being a badass archer. and now I’m revisiting the series at almost 24 - older than all the typical hunger games tributes.. and it’s a totally different feeling. I’m smart enough to recognize a lot more. Which is so realistic considering the young girls in the districts wanting to be just like Katniss. Idk I can’t put it into words

    After finishing the show, I consider the show to be good, but not a must watch. Main cast was great, the episodic concept was simple but offered variety potential, and the main overarching story was interesting. While there were many side characters, I feel some of the recurring ones weren't utilized fully. Season 3-5 is where it picks up, though towards the ending it felt a bit rushed.

    The thing I love about this series is how it lets your mind wander. Suzanne Collins doesn’t hold your hand and explain all the inner workings, but rather shows this world to you through the narrow lens of a girl whose sole focus is survival. While katniss is used as a tool of propaganda, she isn’t even involved in 99% of the action and planning that goes into the rebellion. She catches glimpses of the lives and protests in other districts, but it’s just whisperings. We receive information about Panem and the Capitol as a district citizen would. I read these books over 10 years ago, and I still find myself considering new potential consequences of its systems. I’m so fascinated by the politics and the economy surrounding the games, especially betting. I’m sure there’s inside trading, paid rigging, etc. I wonder if we’ll get a closer look at this side of things in the new book

    This one show made me love characters that I never cared about before. It made me fall in love with Wanda and her badassery. It broke my heart to realize just how much suffering Wanda had gone through - in losing her parents, her brother, Vision, and even her potential kids. Yet despite all that, she perseveres through so much and still ends up the strong woman that she is. This show also helped me process grief in a very cathartic way. It's just such a poignant show and I never expected it from the MCU. I think that this show was so good that it spoiled me for the rest of the franchise. No other movie or show could measure up anymore so I felt a lot more disappointed in the other stories that came after. Anyway... This was a masterpiece and I wish the rest of the franchise would take more risks and use less of the superhero movie formula.

    It is interesting that Adora is abused in the same way by both Shadow Weaver and Light Hope, and that when she leaves the Horde she ends up just trading one abuser for another, in the the same pattern. And most of the audience recognized Shadow Weaver as an abuser right from the start, but many did not pick up that Light Hope was doing the exact same thing until quite a bit later in the narrative.

    Damn this is too accurate. That was the most chemistry-dead love triangle I'd ever seen on a TV series and it completely flatlined three characters on a TV show that only had five cast members -couple that with Angel and Cordelia's own romantic pairing, and Angel really should've just stuck to demon-slaying.

    I love your end of 6/season 7 idea. Not just because I love Tara and was so hurt they took her away, but I always liked the idea of it being Buffy who was killed/put into a coma by the gunshot and Willow rampaging from there. She would have ended S6 as she started, by being the strongest and in charge, with Buffy dead/dying/coma (a call back to Buffy doing to Faith), culminating in a distorted full circle and landing in a very different angle. It would have been interesting. But, alas, we were given Kennedy.

  • @adriders2006
    @adriders2006 3 дня назад

    I'm not sure why, but I recently decided to do the math, putting together all instances of the tributes dying, and adding in the extra twenty-three from Haymitch's Games. In total, directly, the Games killed 1,412 people, and all but the tributes killed in the 3rd Quell were between the ages of 12-18. It's horrifying just how much this series can capitalize on forgetting and just blurring what's going on to the people in the Capitol. This series is a work of art, in the worst yet best way possible.

    8:03 that line also hold what shadow weaver burned into her. "My friends are part of who I am." It implies, on face value, that her relationship are a part of her. Underneath it implies her relationship are completely her responsibility. "My relationships are not others, they are not to blame I am." Is a underlining meaning and mentality behind it.

    7:06 Adora doesn't stand up for Glimmer or Bow when they get back together after Corridors. She feels responsible for Glimmers actions to an extent still which makes her believe that she partially aligns herself to glimmer consequences. However Adora understands bow is right. Glimmer took a bold risk without looking towards the possibilities of what the heart of etheria could be. Glimmer in "Density" and Catra in "Moment of Truth" parallel each other, they literally only know "this is key to victory." Both of them, without a second thought, push ahead without regard for anything or anyone. Adora believes she hold responsibility for their actions when it happens. Adora takes a position of neutrality with these conflicting ideas and focus on her feelings with the whole catra situation and getting Thulite.

  • @aidcrazysol738
    @aidcrazysol738 4 дня назад

    3:22 So someone outlined a cool theory about the portal reality where any want if it is the most popular of conflicting wants would be the world. I realized that the horde and Adora, at the time of the portal, have no feelings toward Shadow Weavers manipulation, yes all of them wish for her to be kind except her, so she is kind. None of them have identified and pursued her to not be manipulative; therefore, her only trait she keeps from her own want is to force Adora to want what she wishes her own lab dog. Adora has never pushed away the expectations and wants of others. While Shadow Weaver has always wanted to use adora as a vessal to win. Shadow Weaver never stops this even when she switches sides like 13 times. However by the mid to end of season 5, both Catra and Adora understand Shadow Weavers Manipulation and basically tell her to shut up and just help. Which is probably another reason why she sacrifices herself because her endgame and real wants of power and even the possibility of freedom are gone. If Shadow Weaver was not kill she would have been executed, if not executed imprisoned for life and forced into magical sobriety.

  • @aidcrazysol738
    @aidcrazysol738 4 дня назад

    It is really interesting to see Adora and Catra take different takes on the world from Shadow Weavers Abuse. Catra takes power keeps you safe, and Adora, takes you are only what you can give. People who saw catdora early on, or a continuation of their friendship, noticed time and time again that the exception from this world view was each other. Catra doesn't need to give anything to have a place in Adora's heart. Catra doesn't wish to hold power but believes if she or Adora holds it, they will be safe, take the portal reality, and post Crimson waste and pre-breakdown Catra. Both are examples of power that give safety or the illusion of safety to catra. Neither truly make them happy. That is what the final season showed us. Adora understands she can just be, and Catra understands there is no safety in power but kindness, her faith and others faith in her.

    33:00 there was a huge increase in the percentage of soldiers firing at the enemy upon first engagement starting in the First Gulf War. The Christmas Miracle of WWI only happened the first year of the war. People often forget how close the trench lines were. Close enough to hear someone on the other side singing a familiar Christmas carol. And then come together in shared cultural rituals like gift exchanges, highlighting that the enemy has more in common than is different. Never again. Commanders on both sides made sure the fighting was fierce during Christmas from then on.

    Although I agree with you that Wes had no real development and that fans like him for the wrong reasons, I think you're missing the point of the character. Wesley was basically a more sympathetic Warren, an insecure little boy with wrong ideas about how to be a grown up. His infatuation with Fred also reveals this from beginning to end, just watch how confused he ends up reacting to Illyria: Fred was written as a "perfect girlfriend" for him, just like Warrens's bots, but it was not real.

    • @pucho3699
      @pucho3699 5 дней назад

      @@5x5Takes I believe it consistently does. It is subtle but the show also recognizes that his love for Fred was pretty much fake, despite him not realizing it until the series finale. The thing is, that doesn't make him a bad character, nor his relationship with Fred badly written (I mean, it was, but because season 4 was a mess). Believe me that there's plenty of men who can empathize with his character flaws, and because despite all of his failures he still tries to grow up as a person. Unlike Warren who's a tasteless caricature of that exact same kind of people.

      I totally agree with what you’re saying about it not making him a bad character, but ultimately I think we’ll just have to disagree, because the writing reads to me as inconsistent in awareness, and it’s a net loss for the show
